In this class we will craft a leather wallet. There will be some flexibility on style wallet based on precut options versus the ability to cut your own (on the laser or by hand). Ideally there will be two types of leather to choose from, similar to that in the picture above.
Skills worked on in this class depending on wallet style and leather type:
Cutting leather from a template
Cutting leather on the CO2 laser with prepared files
Punching stitch holes
Hand stitching
Skiving
Edge finishing
Edge dying
Working with very thin leathers/liners
Gluing leathers
Prerequisites: No prior leatherworking experience necessary, but this is a bit more than a beginner class but less than a typical advanced level class. If you are unable to finish the project within the class timeframe, you can take the project home to finish or Makersmiths Members can use the tools available at Makersmiths to finish their project.
This class will meet in the main room at MS-L.
