MS-L Leatherworking - Make a Marbled Mouse Pad

In this make & take class, we will take a pre-cut, veg-tan leather mouse pad and dye it using a marble and alcohol ink technique.

Items will be cut on the laser cutter ahead of time.  You will learn how to apply the dye and finish the edges.  We will go over adding stamping or engraving to the process.

You will go home with a finished mouse pad and the know-how to create more. 

Skills you will learn in this class:

• Basics of working with leather 
• Dying the leather with Water Stain dye and alcohol ink 
• Beveling and Edge Burnishing 
• Conditioning and Basic Leather Care 
• Additional Q&A about working with lasers and leather 

All tools, leather, and hardware will be provided.

Prerequisites: None.  This is a beginner level class and will cover the project from start to finish.  We will go over using the laser cutter to cut your blanks, but we won’t be using the laser cutter in the class.

This class will meet in the classroom at MS-L.
