Custom T-Shirt Workshop

Would you like to customize an apron or T-shirt at Makersmiths just in time for Mother's Day? In the lower red brick building's classroom at Makersmiths-Purcellville, you will be guided through the process of transferring your unique SVG file onto your own personalized garment and learning how to use a Cricut machine. No prior skills using a cutting machine is required.

This heat transfer vinyl apron or t-shirt-making class offers a unique opportunity to create personalized designs using a Cricut cutting machine. Participants can bring their own SVG file for a custom design with no more than 2 colors or we will use images and edible sayings SVGs that are part of Cricut Design Space software. Participants will need to bring a white or lightly colored pre-washed cotton t-shirt or apron. We will provide the iron-on vinyl (several colors to choose). This hands-on workshop allows individuals to learn the process of uploading and working in Cricut Design Space, cutting vinyl on a Cricut, and transferring vinyl to a fabric using the heat press located at MSP.

Remember: Each student needs to bring their own laptop with Cricut Design Space software pre-loaded. Be sure to make a free account and have your username and password handy. You may also have SVGs loaded to use when you design your shirt or apron. If you own a Cricut machine, you may bring that, too. Otherwise, we will have two Cricut machines at this workshop for participants to use.

What if you have a specific jpeg, gif or photo image you want to use? Prior to the workshop, It must be converted to an SVG prior to the workshop. Follow these directions to use the free software program, Cutecutter, to convert the image to SVG format and be sure it is saved to the laptop you will be bringing.
