Interested in Home Automation? Have you heard about Home Assistant?
What is a Network Attached Storage (NAS) unit? How hard is it to put one in my home and make it secure?
Home Assistant is an open-source home automation software / hardware project that puts local control and privacy first. Powered by a worldwide community of tinkerers and DIY enthusiasts. Perfect to run on a local server or Raspberry Pi (along with many other options including virtualization).
Join us as we discuss such topics as “What is Home Assistant?” or “Why cloud-based home automation isn’t the best option.” Or the classic “Won’t somebody please tell me what a Zigbee is?”
We’ll have two Home Assistant users in attendance, one a neophyte and one, not so much. We’ll show you our dashboards and talk about what we’d do next.
Then, onto Network Attached Storage solutions. What is a NAS and how hard are they to integrate into home networks and make them secure. From storing a photo archive to your family's entire digital library, these little systems make ‘keeping it all together’ a whole lot easier.
We have two folks, Dilip Patel and Chris Grody, who run NAS units at home and are willing to show and tell what they run, what hardware they run their NASs on and what they did to implement and integrate them into their home networks.
Join us if you’re just starting out or if you’ve been running HA and NASs for years. Show us who you are and maybe, just maybe we can help one another with something new!
