This course presents a behind-the-scenes look from design through to delivery of a mechanical sculpture or automata. The course covers the production workflows used to include laser cutting, 3D printing, woodshop and CNC activities. During the course various examples, custom solutions and unfortunate mistakes with be shared.


The course is organized into the following 5 Main Subassemblies:

- Front & Back Panels

- Otter & Wave construction and movements

- Springs, Wires and Brass Parts

- Gears, Cams and Followers

- and Base Support

Each section in the course includes:

- Production Workflow Diagrams

- Software used during production

- Red Tools used during production

- Materials

- and Lessons Learned

No prior experience or knowledge necessary.

We will meet in the small classroom at the Leesburg location.
