Do you have an idea for a project that uses electronics but don't know where to start? This class is a great first step. We will discuss electronic components, tools and simple circuits, as well as safe soldering practices and basic techniques. Then we’ll tour the electronics Lab at MS-L to demonstrate the desktop power supply, oscilloscope and function generator. After that students can use breadboards and/or Tinkercad to design and test circuits. We’ll practice soldering then design and build a USB-powered LED, fan or simple amplifier circuit utilizing the components we’ve learned about.
All instruction will occur on the first day, with the second day being reserved so participants may finish their project, practice soldering or work on an additional project.
This is a family-friendly workshop. Adults registering for this workshop may bring up to two youth (ages 10-14).
Electronic components and tools will be provided. A laptop, for Tinkercad, is optional.
This workshop will take place in the classroom, main room and briefly the electronics lab at MS-L.
