Learn to sew an island bag in this make & take class! This project builds on the basics covered in the lined drawstring bag class on the use of the sewing machine, reading pattern instructions, and sewing pieces together.
In this class, students will learn pattern layout, underlining techniques applicable to more advanced projects, matching pattern seams, and hand sewing finishing stitches. Bag lining will be customized with pockets and storage for each user’s most used items. Everyone will be able to take home their own pattern and make it again for a friend!
Upon completion of this course, you'll be approved to use the sewing machines on your own.
All tools and materials will be provided. Students may bring a favorite fabric for the project or choose from a selection that will be provided, along with a choice of linings. The island bag takes 5/8 of a yard for 36”wide fabric and 1/2 yard of 45” fabric.
