In this class, students will learn how to create a "project" using the free Cricut Design Space app and cut it with the Cricut Explore 2 cutting machine located in the craft room. The instructor will demonstrate how to use the "Print then Cut" feature for creating multicolored stickers on printable vinyl.
Participants are encouraged to bring a simple image (compatible file formats are JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP, SVG, and DXF) on a flash drive for cutting out of cardstock or adhesive vinyl. Participants may choose to bring a device to class and download the free Cricut Design Space app (available for Windows® and Mac® computers and iOS and Android™ devices) to begin creating projects. Students will learn to create an account in Cricut Design Space, if needed.
This is a beginner level class, appropriate for middle school students through adults with a basic familiarity with using the internet. Students will create a simple project using supplies provided by the instructor. The instructor will also provide instructional handouts, including "Cheat Sheets".
Optional for students to bring to class:
- Recommended: laptop, tablet or phone with internet capability (WiFi is available)
- Optional: simple image file for bookmark (2 in X 4 in)(JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP, SVG, or DXF)
The class will meet in the classroom first, then proceed to the sewing/crafts area of the main room at Makersmiths-Leesburg to work on their projects.
