This is a beginning knife making workshop that will be held in the Green Room and the wood shop. This event makes a wonderful date night or TGIF event!
In this workshop we will begin in the Green Room to explore the basics of knife making. You will select, shape, and attach scales (handles) to a preformed knife blank. In the wood shop, you will finish sand and polish the scales. You will leave with a completed knife. All tools and materials are included (knife blank, scale material, pins, abrasives, and polish). The picture is representative of the knife you will make.
This workshop is one in a series of workshops that will be offered. These are separate workshops and one would need to sign up separately for each workshop. Cost for each workshop will be similar.
Look for the workshop that is a basic cut-out shape of knife steel and, using stock removal (grinding and sanding) shape the blade, then attach scales, finish, and sharpen the custom result. Another workshop starts with a raw billet of steel that will need to be forged into a knife shape, ground, polished, have scales attached, sharpened and finished. Finally, a workshop will be offered to create a leather sheath for your creation.
Due to the advance preparation of materials there can be no cancellations or refunds on this workshop.
About the Knife Workshops
We are offering additional workshops that one would need to sign up to take separately. The cost for each workshop will be similar. The first workshop in the series works with a pre-cut and beveled knife blank. The second workshop in the series, will start with a basic cut-out shape of knife steel and, using stock removal (grinding and sanding) shape the blade, then attach scales, finish, and sharpen the custom result. The third workshop starts with a raw billet of steel that will need to be forged into a knife shape, ground, polished, have scales attached, sharpened and finished. A fourth workshop will be offered to create a leather sheath for your creation.
