This is a leather working workshop that will meet in the Green Room at Makersmiths Purcellville. You will learn to cut out, punch, tool (if desired) and sew a sheath for a drop point knife (ideally, a knife you made in one of our Knife Making Workshops) or for your Knife and Pfriem (that you can make in another one of our workshops).
All tools and materials are included (leather, punches, sewing needles and thread, some stamps for tooling, and leather finish). The picture is representative of a sheath you could make.
Due to the advance preparation of materials we can accept no cancellations or refunds for this workshop. The only exception will be for weather or something that makes the space unavailable.
About the Knife Workshops
We are offering additional workshops that one would need to sign up to take separately. The cost for each workshop will be similar. The first workshop in the series works with a pre-cut and beveled knife blank. This workshop in the series, will start with a basic cut-out shape of knife steel and, using stock removal (grinding and sanding) shape the blade, then attach scales, finish, and sharpen the custom result. The third workshop starts with a raw billet of steel that will need to be forged into a knife shape, ground, polished, have scales attached, sharpened and finished. In this fourth workshop, participants create a leather sheath for your creation.
