Registration

  • These are youth in grades 6-8 who wish to work individually or in small groups (no more than 3) to learn about solar energy and build a device that is powered by solar panel energy.

Registration is closed

This is a Makersmiths Educational initiative. Participants are in middle school grades 6-8 and will work in small groups or individually to complete a solar panel challenge sponsored by KidWind.org and JMU's Center for the Advancement of Sustainable Energy. Starter kit of materials are provided to the participants through a grant awarded to JMU.

Participants are asked to register for the Makersmiths Middle School team.  They will be contacted by Diane Painter, the educational liaison and a KidWind coach about training sessions (virtual and in-person) and details containing a possible in-person Va-Solar Panel Challenge in April 2021, and the opportunity to submit projects to state and national online challenges in 2021.
