Initially meeting of working / planning groups, kiln, studio, classroom, rules prep Looking for interested Makersmiths and community members who want to participate in the planning and building of the new CERAMICS AND GLASS program/building. Activities include studio and building prep, rules and process planning, budgeting and supplies acquisition/creation. Absolutely NO KNOWLEDGE OF CERAMICS NEEDED. There are a wide variety of tasks that need to be done for a soft opening goal of the first week in April.
Available Positions: Associate and Full Makersmiths Members: Joining this working group and participating in work days (TBD) counts towards your two hours per month of required volunteer hours. We also need three full Makersmiths members to become co-shop stewards. Shop stewards will be the only people permitted to operate the kilns. Training will be provided. Community/Artists: We encourage community members and artists from the region to join us as volunteers. The studio will become a community resource, hosting a variety of classes as well as rental of studio/kiln space for artists. Students: Students 12 and over are encouraged to participate with family, friends and clubs. Working on painting and building in the lower building counts as volunteer hours for most school programs. These activities will be done on weekends. Safety waivers must be signed by parents.
